Description
American oval cast iron INA eagle fire mark signed and dated, Circa 1792. On November 19, 1792 John Nesbitt and Ebenezer Hazard met in Philadelphia's Independence Hall to create the Insurance Company of America. INA wrote the first policy to cover ships, cargo, and homes. These fire marks were placed on the exterior of a home to guarantee fire brigades that the house was fully insured, Late 18th Century.
