Description
This highly desirable and fine nautical instrument is made of carved mahogany with a brass and glass hood covering a gimbaled compass and flindler's tube with cap. The six sided binnacle was deck mounted and has painted cast iron port and starboard navigator balls that are adjustable on cast brass arms. The compass was made by Georg Hechelman Nachf, Hamburg, Germany and is in working condition. Sestrel clinometer is fitted to the Binnacle base, second half of the 19th century Measures: 61.5 inches tall, 29 inches wide at top , 26 inches deep at top , 22 inches squared base.
