Pair of English Copper and Brass hinged glass lanterns signed William Edgar, Blenheim House, Hammersmith. Pair were originally gas and can be electrified or returned to gas if desired. Blenheim House in Hammersmith was a grand aristocratic estate and a prominent 19th-century industrial and manufacturing site. Blenheim House also served as the headquarters and workshop for the patentee and lighting manufacturer of William Edgar Co., which produced signature copper gas lanterns for local utilities such as the Brentford Gas Company as well.
